Ilyinsky Churchyard - Podosinki
A year ago, we lost two very important people. Mr Vladimir Ganelin — that very ‘grumpy old man-ded pogany’ who took us on hikes every Saturday, year in, year out, whatever the weather. Ms Elizaveta Orlova — a distinguished hiker who knew every bump on these trails, navigated by compass and never complained. Both have passed away. Both, one imagines, have already discovered something interesting up there beyond the clouds. We are going to remember them. In our own way — that is, on foot. Commuter train to Yegoryevsk — 7:22 from Vykhino The route begins at the churchyard — we couldn’t have thought of anything more symbolic, nor did we try. Ahead lies the forest, a decent road, and a group of people who have memories to cherish. Bring empty water bottles. We’ll fill them up along the way. Vladimir Ilyich always knew where to find it. Now we’ll have to figure it out ourselves. The train won’t wait for latecomers. The dead didn’t wait either — they simply left when the time came. So on 6 June 2026 at 7:22 am from Vykhino, the train to Yegoryevsk in the carriage you know. We’ll be delighted to see anyone who knew them, walked with them or simply wants to walk a good route. Shoulda, woulda, coulda, and thank you for
